Party-km is an estimate of the km each DAYLIGHT party/group (or individual if counting on their own) walks or drives during the count, while counting. Don't include owling here.
Party-hour is defined as 1 hour in the field for each DAYLIGHT party/group (or individual if  counting on their own) on the count.
For example, if walking Party A spends 4 hours in the field, and Party B was in the field 6 hours, the party hours walking is 10 party-hours. Feeder-hours and nocturnal-hours are recorded separately and are not included in the total party-hours.

OWLING: For nocturnal birding (if done), report the number of hours
spent by all parties in the field during non-daylight hours, rounded to the nearest quarter-hour and for the distance, total up the distance traveled by those
parties, and round to the nearest quarter-kilometer.

WHY BIRDS MATTER
...
Bird Friendly Edmonton acknowledges the traditional land on which we reside, in Treaty Six Territory. We would like to thank the diverse Indigenous Peoples whose ancestors’ footsteps have marked this territory for centuries, such as nêhiyaw Nay-he-ow, (Cree), Dené, Anishinaabe (Saulteaux), Nakota Isga (Nakota Sioux), and Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) peoples. We also acknowledge this as the Métis’ homeland and the home of one of the largest communities of Inuit south of the 60th parallel. It is a welcoming place for all peoples who come from around the world to share Edmonton as a home. Together, we call upon all our collective, honoured traditions and spirits to work in building a great city for today and future generations.
